#156: Glin & Tonic - Being Paid to Be Me

It’s a Small but Big Change

I did it.

I made a decision to embrace all of me.

To allow myself to become SimplyGlin.

It’s where I began in 2017, when I first launched my personal blog under the same name. A year later, it became my company, Simply Glin Pty Ltd.

I was on the right path. I still remember the rush of excitement I felt leaving corporate for the first time. I was energised by the adventure ahead.

The chance to chart my own path and move confidently in the direction of my dreams.

But fear and doubt crept in. I left the embrace of big corporate brands and started to question myself. Could I really be paid to be Simply Glin?

Nayla, my fear-driven ego, had an answer to that. And soon after, Simply Glin became Heart of Human, a beautiful brand that expressed the essence of my life’s philosophy and everything I wanted to stand for.

But the truth? I wasn’t ready to stand behind being Simply Glin. I was too conditioned. Every time I asked, â€śWho am I to do this?”, my moments of bravery were quickly overtaken by doubt.

Who I was seemed to change all the time. I’m a chameleon. I adapt to my environment. My heart knows the way, but my ego questions and doubts. Not from curiosity, but with a judgemental tone that sounds like: Really? You? Being paid to be yourself? Don’t be ridiculous.

It’s been a seven year journey, and somewhere along the way another business identity was thrown into the mix — The Value Negotiator.

It was a brand that represented something deeply human. After all, we’re all negotiating and trying to prove our value until we realise life isn’t about proving anything. It’s about presence. And yes, our presence is enough.

This evolution has been shaped by deep inner work. I’ve had to embody what I teach. Practise what I ask others to consider. These lessons were hard won through trial, error, and a fair few bruises.

Some knocks were harder than others. But they all brought me here.

To this moment. To this truth.

I’m Simply Glin.

And I’m here to embody what it looks like when a woman stops outsourcing her power.

To help you see that our transformation isn’t a detour. It is the way.

To alchemise the words that pour through my fingers into wisdom.

To turn my hard won truth into tools that serve again and again, especially in the moments my ego tries to lead me off my path.

I’m here to show that the most important negotiation is the one within.
And to remind myself, every day, that who I am becoming is the most meaningful creation of all.

I’m being paid to be me.

And there’s no sweeter way to live.

It’s taken years of losing myself to find myself again.

And this time, Simply Glin knows she always had the power.
She just had to learn it for herself.

To celebrate coming home to myself, I’ve created a resource I hope will help you come home to yourself, too.

It’s free for a limited time, so if you feel called to take the journey back to you, now is the time.

Keep going and keep growing.

P.S. Three wins from my week:

1. Transitioned my website to SimplyGlin

It’s a work in progress. I still need to bring across my negotiation training content from The Value Negotiator website and move some of my resources from the Heart of Human website. With my new branding now finalised, it’s all happening step by step. But I’m in the camp of progress over perfection, so I just wanted to let you know, that’s where you’ll find me now.

2. Quality catch Ups.

This weekend I’m indulging in beautiful catch-up time with friends I met at the Human Design Retreat in Byron. We spent over six hours in real conversation yesterday, and there’s still so much ground to cover today! It’s so nourishing when you meet people who embrace you being all of yourself.

3. New Floors

It’s been a week of chaos and distraction at home while getting new flooring laid downstairs. The floors look fab, and I’m so, so relieved to have our home back — clean, calm, and with a functional kitchen again!

P.P.S - If you want an insight into how I see and navigate my own inner world, I share my thoughts and musings in voice note form to my secret podcast. It can be accessed through the link below.

#157: Glin & Tonic - Releasing Ego, Remembering Me
What I’ve learned about worth, identity, and choosing myself, without needing to prove a thing.   As I sit to write to you this morning, there is so much I want to share, and honestly, I don’t know where to start.   I’ve been riding an emotional wave over the past few days. Following a powerful kinesiology session with Kasey on Friday afternoon, I’ve been going through a big emotional release. ...
#155: Glin & Tonic - Stop Worrying What They Think
Who are the 'they' whose thoughts and opinions you consistently concern yourself with?   You know, the ones you think of when you ask yourself questions like: What will they think? What if they think I've lost the plot based on what I share? What if they judge me? What if they don't think I'm credible, smart, or capable? What if what they think impacts my success? What if they thi...
#154: Glin & Tonic - The Noise, the Signal, and the Hungry Hippos
"Have you noticed how all the big creators from LinkedIn are jumping onto Substack?" I asked a friend this week.   "It feels like there’s no sacred space for creative expression anymore." Soon, Substack - like LinkedIn - will be filled with people chasing audiences, using it as yet another platform to leverage for revenue growth.   Then, en masse, we’ll see the rise of 'Substack growth expert...
